The Story
Founded by a refugee who turned her hardship into a mission to educate.
Patricia Monday arrived in Ghana as a refugee from Liberia at the age of four. Growing up in Cape Coast, she experienced firsthand how financial hardship can limit a child’s access to education. Determined to make a difference, she built a wooden classroom and began teaching children who had nowhere else to go. What began in 2014 with 15 students and 2 teachers now serves more than 200 children, with additional children waiting for the opportunity to enroll. Five dedicated teachers, each earning roughly $700 per year, continue to teach multiple grade levels in shifts inside a structure where the roof leaks whenever it rains.
